Our Linguists - Code of Ethics
All linguists retained by LinguaTrans ® shall:
- Faithfully reproduce in the target language the closest natural equivalent of the source language, primarily in terms of meaning and secondarily in terms of style without embellishment, omission or explanation
- Provide services in compliance with the terms of their agreements with LinguaTrans®
- Not provide assignment participants any method of direct contact
- Treat all information acquired as confidential
- Report any problems to their co-coordinator
LinguaTrans ® Interpreters shall:
- Arrive at least ten minutes prior to the assignment
- Introduce themselves to the participants and clearly explain their role
- Consistently interpret using first person
- Take breaks only when directed to do so, and turn off cellular phones and audible beepers
- Remain impartial and avoid conflicts of interest or appearance thereof
- Never engage in non-professional activities with, or give advice to, witnesses, participants or parties
- Be professional in all regards including attire and etiquette
- Refrain from informal discussion of any kind with all participants
- Immediately make concerns known to participants
LinguaTrans ® Translators & Proofreaders shall:
- Provide accurate and culturally appropriate translations
- Use current and specialized dictionaries, terminology databases, and translation tools
- Undergo ongoing quality control and implement corrections as required
- Respect copyrights and other intellectual property rights
- Ask questions and add footnotes as required
